The Fall 2026 Season of the Midnight Mahj Social League is a mahjong challenge league in Wilmington, DE designed to bring players together for fun, connection, and friendly competition. Teams climb a community leaderboard by matching one another during five two-week play windows throughout the season. Registration is open to players of all skill levels who are comfortable playing independently.
Registration is easy!
Step 1: Form a team of 2-4 players and select a team captain.
Step 2: Team captain registers below and pays team registration fee through the “Team Registration Fee” listing ($100).
Step 3: All other team players (non-Team Captain) register using the “Other Player Registration” (FREE).
Step 4: Have fun and be social! Details regarding the next league season and divisions will be emailed to you. Please add joinourtable@midnightmahj.com to your safe sender email list.

League members will gain access to Fall 2026 league information, leaderboard, team rosters, season schedule, and other league-related events. Each team must have 2-4 players and challenge other teams in matches over the season. Note: One payment of $100 is due at time of registration per TEAM (paid by Team Captain). Team captain form on member page is to be submitted by 8/28/26. A max of ONE Honor Tile Society league discount code may be applied at checkout during team registration.

Every team should have one complete American mahjong tile set (152 tiles), a mat, 4 racks & pushers, and dice. Shufflers are recommended, but optional. Each player should have their own 2026 official National Mah Jongg League rule card purchased through Midnight Mahj or through the official National Mah Jongg League website (https://www.nationalmahjonggleague.org/). Please note, there are a lot of fakes and bootleg cards available on Amazon— please do not purchase these for use in the Midnight Mahj League matches, as we cannot guarantee authenticity.

The team registration fee AND “Team Captain Form” (located on the league home page) must be submitted by August 28, 2026. All other players should register through “Other Player Registration” by September 5, 2026.

Once the league match schedule is posted on the league website, teams assigned to match each other will coordinate on a mutually agreed upon date and time to play the match within the allotted two week window. Time allotted per match should allow for 4 total mahjong games (hands) to be played (~3 hours).

You can play anywhere! At home, a coffee shop, a club house, school, etc—- the world is your table! This league is focused in the Wilmington, DE area.

The Midnight Mahj Social league fee does not include any formal mahjong instruction. If you are interested in joining the league, but have never learned to play mahjong, please reach out to Midnight Mahj to set up a Mahj 101 lesson prior to the season start.

League registration is $100 per team for the season. The team captain should register and pay the team registration fee on behalf of the entire team. Further instructions for player registration will be provided once the team is fully registered.

Each team will be made up of 2-4 players. Team captains should communicate your team name and and other details to Midnight Mahj through the “Team Captain Form” on the league homepage after paying the registration fee. Individual players forming each team will be provided with additional registration instructions once the team fee and form has been submitted.

At the start of the season, we will provide you with a match up schedule and contact information so you know who you will play during each match. You will have two weeks to play your opponents during each match window.

A detailed match scoring system and scorecard will be provided on the league member site.

A “make-up” match can be set up if schedules get tricky. The score and winner from your make-up match must be reported for the round it was originally scheduled in.

Our preview season will only allow for teams of 2, 3, or 4 members. If you do not have any other team members to sign up with, please contact Midnight Mahj and we will make every effort to introduce you to other potential team members.

Each match in the Spring 2026 Social League features two teams competing across four mahjong hands. For each hand, two players from each team will participate at the table. Teams with more than two members may rotate players between hands as desired.
A minimum of two players per team must be present for a match to take place; however, teams with three or four members are not required to have all players attend every match.

Please note, this season’s Midnight Mahj social league is based out of Wilmington, DE. While matches do not need to take place within Wilmington, DE, teams located outside of Wilmington may need to travel further to a mutually agreed upon location, as decided between matching teams.

The Midnight Mahj Social League will follow official National Mah Jongg League rules.

No, blanks and extra jokers will not be allowed during matches, as these are considered “house rules” and do not follow official National Mah Jongg League rules.

Once all teams are registered, divisions will be assigned based on average team member experience level.
